You need to be gifted to be a captain. Not anyone can be an inspiring figure, a talisman, a fighter and a brilliant footballer, all at once. You have to be able to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders, to understand, support and never give up. Being a captain is a lot more than just an armband. If anyone can be everything a team needs, Steven Gerrard can.
